Conservative to go hurdling after positive fifth place finish at Bath – latest from Joe Tizzard

Conservative
It was a better run from Conservative this time, but I just think he’s a quirky fellow who might just be a bit cute on the track, in that he keeps plenty back for himself.

He ran in snatches, coming on and off the bridle, but ultimately his fifth place was enough to tell us to try him over hurdles next time.

We’ll school him this week under Brendan Powell, and as he’s race fit, there’s no reason we can’t run him again in the next two to three weeks, and who knows, maybe hurdling will freshen him right up. He looked the part at Bath, and was judged the best turned out, so if we can just find the key to him, he could still be a nice horse.

We’ll need to run him three times over hurdles to get him a handicap mark, but as I say, he’s fit so we can keep him going and get that mark.
