I gave Conservative a tough workout this morning just to see if he is race ready again, and he came through it with flying colours. He jumped his hurdles well and travelled strongly on the gallops.

In my last update, I mentioned that Plumpton on the 22nd of September was the race we were provisionally thinking about. I will aim towards that contest because I think the racecourse will suit him. We will be stepping up to two miles, four and a half furlongs, and I am confident he has the stamina to appreciate that trip.

With an opening mark of 91, things should start getting easier for him. We bumped into a couple of smart ones at Newton Abbot last time out and hopefully, in handicap company, that won’t be the case anymore.
