Diamond Days has 'improved no end' following his debut at Wincanton
I was probably guilty of focusing too much on our other runner in the race, but I’ve watched the race back a few times, and given how the race panned out, it was a much better run from him than the finishing position might suggest.
We always planned to just give him the one run in a bumper before we go hurdling with him, and that’s very much our thinking still. He’s been schooling really nicely at home, so we've decided to enter him in two novices' hurdle contests at Fontwell on Sunday and Exeter on Monday. Depending how the weather forecast pans out will help decide where he goes, as I wouldn’t want to run him first time up over hurdles on quick ground because that can jar a horse up if you’re not careful.
He might be one who needs his three runs to get him a handicap mark, but we’ll learn lots more once he’s made his hurdling debut.
