Diamond Days found himself heading to Salisbury earlier in the week as Joe Tizzard continues to increase his work ahead of his Coral Racing Club debut.

At the beginning of September, Joe told us that Diamond Days had just began some core fitness work, including slow canters over a couple of miles to start building up his fitness, but now he's beginning to really ramp up our unraced four-year-old's work in preparation for the start of the national hunt season and his debut run.

As part of the final touches, the team at Venn Farm took him along with a few other horses up to Salisbury to work on an actual racecourse, as opposed to the gallops at home, as a change in environment can help the horses develop. (See video)

Joe sent us this update after Diamond Days' Salisbury work out:

"Diamond Days had an away day at Salisbury this morning with Harry Kimber riding. As you can see from the video, he finished 3rd, a couple of lengths behind the front two.

Harry said he was a bit keen for the first couple of furlongs but then travelled really well, and only dropped off the front two, who are older and more experienced horses, in the last furlong.

It was great experience for him and it should put him right to run in 2-3 weeks time."
