Joe Tizzard Weekend Preview: This horse will be winning shortly

28 Oct 2023
Coral Racing Ambassador, Joe Tizzard, previews his eleven runners this weekend across the cards, including one at Cheltenham on Saturday and ten between Aintree and Wincanton on Sunday.

Saturday Preview

13:15 Cheltenham – Triple Trade

I wouldn’t have minded a bit more rain for him as he has some good soft form. He looked a really progressive horse at the back end of last season, and I think he is capable of improving again. This is a lovely starting point for him. He is in great form at home, and he only has 10st 6lb on his back, so I am expecting him to run a big race.

Sunday Preview

13:10 Wincanton – West End Boy & Bertie Wooster

West End Boy has done everything well at home this autumn. We were pleased with the handicap mark he got at the back end of last season. I thought he was going to get balloted out of this race, but I am glad he didn’t, as he is ready to run. He has some good C&D form, and we will see where we are. This horse will be winning shortly, I am sure of that. I am really looking forward to meeting the Coral Racing Club members at Wincanton on Sunday.

Bertie Wooster probably wants further but I didn’t want to wait until Chepstow as he needs to run. This will blow the cobwebs out and he has some form around Wincanton too.

13:10 WINCANTON – LATEST BETTING HERE

13:44 Wincanton – Belgarum

He had a run over hurdles at Fontwell earlier this month, but the plan has always been to go over fences this season with this horse as he looks like a chaser. The trip is right for him, and he has schooled well over fences. He is ready to go and start producing some nice performances. This doesn’t look like the hottest race in the world, so it is a good opportunity for him.

14:35 Aintree – Sparkling Duke

He is a big baby, but he is a real galloper. I gave him an away day during the autumn, so that will have done him good. In time he will need to get handicapped, and he will be a staying chaser, that’s not to say he won’t be victorious over hurdles this season.

14:54 Wincanton – Siam Park & Ticking Tom Bomb

Siam Park fell on his sole start in an Irish point-to-point when he looked to be going well. I like what I have seen at home in this horse but in time he will want further. It is his first day out for us so we will learn a lot about him.

Ticking Tom Bomb joined us ahead of this season. He is a seven-year-old, but he has only appeared three times, so he has had his problems. He has settled into our system well. It is now a case of seeing what he can do on the track.

15:29 Wincanton – Killer Kane

He ran a cracker in the Topham at Aintree last time out. I think 3m2f will be on his limit, but around Wincanton on nice ground, he should be fine. We will aim to go back to the Topham at the end of the season. Brendan Powell will have to hold onto him but if he is to get this trip, he will get it around Wincanton.

16:04 Wincanton – Gyenyame

He bolted up in a novice race at this course back in March, but he does have a lot of weight on his return to action. He is a lovely horse who won twice on the Flat for Andrew Balding before arriving to us. This is a good starting point for him, and if he puts in a performance like he did last time here, then he should not be too far away.

16:20 Aintree - Sunset Marquesa

She is a Walk In The Park filly who looks fantastic. It is a mares’ bumper and if she runs well in this, she could go to Cheltenham for a Listed mares’ bumper. It is her first run so I think she could run green, but she is one to look forward to for the future.

16:40 Wincanton – Midnight Princess

She has paid the price for what she achieved last summer when winning three times. The handicapper has dropped her 3lb for her last run, and with Freddie Gingell on her back this time, that’s a further 7lb coming off. She has won around Wincanton, and she might take a bit of pegging back from the front.
