Joe Tizzard: Eldorado Allen is in great form at home ahead of King George clash

24 Dec 2022

Your Coral Racing Club trainer, Joe Tizzard, provides an exclusive preview on all of his runners across Kempton and Wincanton on Boxing Day.

Kempton 12.10 – Off To A Flyer

A very busy day in the calendar begins with Off To A Flyer in Kempton’s opener. He's a horse with plenty of ability I'm sure, it just hasn't clicked on a racecourse for him yet, but he works well at home and I’m keen to get a run into him, he’s ready to race, so even though this looks a decent little contest, he should learn plenty from it. He’ll get his handicap mark soon enough but I do think he’s better than that.

Wincanton 13.28 – Premiumaccess & No Hubs No Hoobs

We're all playing catch up after the recent bout of cold weather so I run a couple here. Premiumaccess ran a cracker to finish second at Fontwell last time. Harry Kimber got on well with him that day so keeps the ride. He's got a lovely racing weight here, and if he performs like he did last time he shouldn't be too far away.

No Hubs No Hoobs pulled up at Wincanton last time so that was disappointing, but he ran OK the time before that. He's a great big horse so with Fred [Gingell] on board claiming his seven pounds, the horse will think he's running free. He seems in good form at home so could have an each way chance.

Wetherby 13.35 – Lostintranslation

Lostintranslation seems well at home, it’s not easy for him at the moment as he’s clearly not the force of old, but he is dropping down in the handicap. I hope they don't get too much rain here, if it's genuine good to soft then he could run alright.

Wincanton 14.03 – Earth Business & Triple Trade

Another race where we run two. Triple Trade pulled up last time, he actually banged himself coming round the last bend, but until that point had jumped okay. He will like the soft ground here and should run well.

Earth Business is on something of a recovery mission as I'm not sure he tried all that hard at Exeter last time. He has ability, we just need to see him put it all in on the racecourse.

Kempton 14.30 – Eldorado Allen

Eldorado Allen is in great form, we’ve had two lovely runs from him so far this season, and he’s run well at Kempton in the past. I'm not going to get carried away and say that he will win a King George, but if he runs to his best form, he could definitely have an each way chance. It’s a race that has often seen big-priced runners make the frame, he’s in great form at home, and gets the trip well. I’m looking forward to it.

Wincanton 14.38 – West Orchard

West Orchard had a wind problem last year, and I'm not quite sure he's got his confidence back yet, but this trip and ground will suit him, and he's another who will think he's running free with Fred [Gingell] taking seven pounds off. I wasn't expecting him to get into the race, but he just sneaks in at the bottom, and off this weight could have an each way chance.

Wincanton 15.13 – Copperhead

I was pleased with Copperhead’s run at Sandown last time, it was good to see him finish his race after a disappointing couple of years, so hopefully he’s going the right away again. I don't think he's about to go and win over hurdles, but this should help him get his confidence back, and when we do go chasing again the handicapper has given him half a chance.

Kempton 15.40 – Bourbali

Bourbali is a bonny little horse, who was so consistent last year, winning four times, but he is only small and is paying the price for those wins with his current handicap mark. That said, he ran really well to finish third at Cheltenham last time, and this trip will suit him, we just don’t know if the handicapper has still got hold of him, but he will run his race as always.

Wincanton 15.45 – Bala Brook

The final runner of the day is Bala Brook in this Bumper. He’s a nice horse who ran a little bit green on his debut at Exeter, but still did well to finish fourth. This looks a hot little contest but he will definitely be sharper for that first run.
