'He goes nicely at home' – Joe Tizzard previews his three runners on Saturday

01 Apr 2023
A quiet-ish weekend as is often the case between Cheltenham and Aintree, but we’ve been in good form since the Festival, with five more winners on the board, so hopefully we can keep that going until the Grand National meeting.

16:02 Stratford – Lamanver Bel Ami

Lamanver Bel Ami
is having his first run for us, having been with Jack Barber previously. He’s had a leg injury that has kept him off the track for over a year, so while we have done plenty with him at home, he’ll need this run and should come on plenty for it.

16:37 Stratford – Vision Des Flos

There’s probably been more rain than we’d have liked for this fellow, the going is soft, although they’ve not raced on it through the winter so hopefully it won’t be too testing.

He’s been ultra-consistent all season, and we’ll keep him going through the summer, so even if it does turn out to be too soft for him here, he’s plenty high enough in the handicap so he could get dropped a few pounds and be ready when he does get that quicker ground.

17:12 Stratford – Lord Of Thunder

Lord Of Thunder is a lovely son of Getaway who we bought at the February Cheltenham sale, having finished second in his one point to point start.

He goes nicely at home, and this is a nice opportunity to give him some racecourse experience before we put him away and go novice hurdling in the Autumn.

That’s where his future is, and while he should have a nice spin round here, he’s an exciting one for next season and beyond, so hopefully one to note.
