Rebecca Menzies provides the latest update on Lady Mendoza

Lady Mendoza
Lady Mendoza has had a bit of a snotty nose the last few days, so we’ve given her a rest and not ridden her out with the other horses. We’ve turned her out in the paddock, and she seems well in herself other than that. These types of things are very common at this time of year, so it’s nothing too worrying, we’ll just monitor her and get her back cantering once she’s feeling better.

I suppose if she’s going to get a snotty nose, now is the best time while we don’t have any plans to run her over the next few weeks, so we can take our time with her and let her get back to full fitness at her own pace.

Other than that, all is good in the yard. We seem to have hit really good form in recent weeks, and the majority of the horses are running well. I think we’ve had 9 winners over jumps since Boxing Day, which we are absolutely delighted with, so hopefully that form continues. The horses were in good shape before that first cold snap when we lost all those meetings, and thankfully they’ve continued where they left off.

It looks like we might have another frustrating few days with regards to the weather and losing meetings, but hopefully it doesn’t last too long, as you don’t want periods of no racing when the horses have been running so well.
