Raceday LIVE Preview
It's an exciting start to the New Year for the Coral Racing Club, as our newest recruit is set to make her debut on the first day of 2025.
All The Glory joined our stable in the middle of December, and it didn't take long for Jonjo & A J O'Neill to find her some targets immediately after she was announced as having joined the Coral Racing Club. The first of those targets was on the Coral Challow Hurdle card at Newbury last weekend, but the decision was made to reroute to Southwell for their New Year's Day fixture, as it presented a more suitable opportunity for the mare.

All The Glory joins us as an experienced seven-year-old, and is the highest rated horse over jumps that we have (127 OR), having found success under rules on four occasions in her 22 starts to date. Her first victory came a year and a half ago, when she scored over a 2m trip at Hexham in a Novice contest, and she followed that up with a second success on her next start three months later at Market Rasen.
The handicapper appeared to have caught up with her at that point, as she didn't find success again for the rest of that calendar year, in her following five runs in 2023. Another three month break followed that, and she reappeared in a Grade 2 Mares' Novices' Hurdle at Newbury in March of 2024, a race which was coincidentally won by our very own Annie Mc, back in 2019.

Her first appearance of the season came in a hot Class 2 mares' contest at Wincanton at the start of November, where it looked clear that she would improve for the run, having been off for 112 days prior to the race. She came home in 8th that day, but was only dropped 2lbs by the handicapper, due in part to both the quality of the contest and the fact that it was her first run of the season.
However, it didn't take her long to get back into the Winners' Enclosure following that run, as she headed north to Musselburgh for her second, and most recent, run of the season so far and won comfortably in a Class 4 mares' race. Having been held up by talented claimer, Benjamin Macey, for much of the early running of the race, she was produced to make headway when turning for home. She was travelling far better than the other runners in the race with two flights left to take and took the clear lead between the last two hurdles. Macey pushed her out to win well, and All The Glory looked like she had plenty more in the tank, which led to her being given an 8lb rise to her highest rating to date of 127.
We spoke to A J O'Neill this morning to see how All the Glory was getting on ahead of her debut and he provided us with this update:
We head up to Southwell for this to get the ball rolling for All The Glory's new ownership with the Coral Racing Club here where the course have put on great money for the day. We are looking forward to this with Ben [Macey] riding, claiming 10lbs (his last day of claiming the 10lbs as he won his 5th race on Monday). The soft ground is a worry, but Ben will look after her.
The main dangers are Kalista Love who was 2nd the last day in a maiden at Sedgefield and behind some really nice ones at Ffos Las before that. Sunset Hill has been going well up north so this is a different test for her here, with it being a first time handicap and we will see if the Handicapper has got her or not. Molto Bene won two runs back and that form is holding up well so I fancy her to be the main danger in this, her run the last day would need to be forgiven to fancy her here but I’d be willing to do that.
Fingers crossed for you all here!
Chris Dixon, Racing TV Analyst, gives us his thoughts on All The Glory's chances in her debut this afternoon and the other runners who make up the field
After recording a career-best performance to win tidily at Musselburgh last time, All The Glory looks like a good recruit to the Coral Racing Club ranks and looks the type to have a fruitful campaign over hurdles for the remainder of this season. A strong traveller who is ideally suited by a solid pace on good to soft ground or faster, the conditions would preferably be a shade quicker than described, but she will handle the ground fine and more of an issue could be the potential lack of pace in the race.
Only one of her opponents, Sunset Hill, has made the running on recent starts so the hope has to be that a couple of the regular prominent racers in the field, the likes of Kalista Love, Masked Dance and Motto Bene, ensure a bit of pace pressure and that the race doesn’t become overly tactical. If that happens then All The Glory is well capable of further success and her rider Ben Macey, who won on her at Musselburgh, knows her well.
Kalista Love could be well placed and has the potential to improve on her handicap debut off a mark of 101 that likely underestimates her true ability, while Eileen’s Orders and Sunset Hill are also into a handicap for the first time and could progress, though neither look as obviously well-treated as Kalista Love. Molto Bene could also be a big player back down in grade after a creditable run at Cheltenham last time with her previous reappearance win at Chepstow working out well (2nd & 4th both won next time while the 3rd ran well at Kempton over Christmas) and on that form she still looks well-treated, especially with a handy 7lbs claim off her back.
Trainer and Jockey Statistics
Jonjo & A J O'Neill have been in solid form recently, posting six winners over the last couple of weeks from their 31 runners, including a double on the Coral Challow Hurdle card at Newbury last weekend. The father and son duo have posted two winners from 22 runners at Southwell since A J joined the license at Jackdaws Castle, continuing the form showed at the track when Jonjo was the sole trainer, as he picked up over 100 winners at the course in his career. .
Benjamin Macey has ridden one winner from six rides in the last fortnight, and that came two days ago for Jonjo & A J O'Neill at Haydock. In fact, all of his five career wins have come for the Jackdaws Castle team, as they make use of his 10lb claim when he rides for them. The talented conditional was onboard All the Glory last time out, as our mare won at Musselburgh on her final start for her previous connections, and he also rode Hey Day Baby to her sole victory at Market Rasen back in August.
