All The Glory set for a well deserved rest after a busy first year of chasing

22 May 2026
All The Glory is set for a well deserved summer holiday following her first chasing campaign, during which she ran a total of seven times, highlighted by her run in the Mares' Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.

Her year started at Chepstow, in a two runner Class 3 contest over two miles, a race in which she was making her debut over the bigger obstacles. Although things didn't go her way that day, up against an in-form and race fit rival who was carrying nearly a stone less than her, she was creditable in defeat, staying with her competition the whole way round and making very few, if any mistakes in the process.

From there she raced in similar contests at Aintree and Exeter where she was unable to make an impact, which was largely in part due to errors that caused her to lose confidence during the race. Her fourth run, and arguably her best performance over fences, came during Winter Millions Weekend at Windsor, where she was only beaten into third by a length, in what was her toughest competition on paper yet. Having been sent off at 40/1 on that day, we were hoping for a solid run from All The Glory, where she cut out some of the mistakes she had made in her previous two appearances, and for her to get some confidence back as we moved towards the business end of the season. What we were treated to in fact, was far better. Our nine-year-old was held up in the rear of the field by regular pilot, Jonjo O'Neill Jr, and was near flawless in her jumping. Having made her move with four to go, All The Glory took a slight lead as the field jumped the penultimate flight. Although she stayed on well towards the finish, she was just beaten by the two horses that went with her, and was only narrowly held back in third.

Next for All The Glory was another step up in grade, as she made her way to Huntingdon for the Listed Lady Protectress Mares' Chase. A couple of slight errors on that day unfortunately cost her, although she did stay on well towards the finish to chase down the top three and pick up nearly £2,000 for her Owners for the Day.

The pinnacle of any National Hunt horse's career was the next port of call for All The Glory, as she took the short trip across the Cotswolds from Jackdaws Castle to Cheltenham for the Festival. With two solid runs behind her in Class 1 company, Jonjo & AJ O'Neill aimed her at the Grade 2 Mares' Chase, worth a mouth watering £73,000 to the winner. Although faced with a daunting task, coming up against all-star runners such as last year's Mares' Chase winner, Dinoblue, and Coral Gold Cup winner, Panic Attack, amongst others, All The Glory was there on merit and took her place in the eight strong field knowing that a seventh place finish or better would be enough to secure even more prize money for the season. Despite a few mistakes, Jonjo O'Neill kept All The Glory in the contest the whole way round, before losing ground with four fences left to jump. The pair made their way home to finish in seventh position in the race, making a memorable day even better for her Owners for the Day, as they picked up some prize money for her exploits.

In what would turn out to be her final race of the season, All The Glory made the long trip to Market Rasen last month, for a Grade 3 Mares' Chase that was initially scheduled to be held at Cheltenham, before drainage issues forced the Gloucestershire track to relocate their remaining fixtures. All The Glory looked in great condition on the day, winning best turned out in the race before heading out to the course. Richie McLernon was in the saddle at Market Rasen and around halfway through the contest he made the decision to pull All The Glory up quite abruptly. Upon coming back to the parade ring, Richie told us that she had made some noises on the way around and that she had slowed down markedly whilst doing so, therefore in the best interests of the horse, he made the decision to pull her up and bring her back safely.

Tests were undertaken both on the course immediately after the race and then back at Jackdaws after All The Glory had arrived home, none of which showed anything untoward and confirmed that she was perfectly healthy. Jonjo & AJ O'Neill determined from that point that maybe she had just lost a bit of interest following what had been a long period of consecutive time in training, and from there, they made the call to give her a well deserved, extended break over the summer months so she can come back next season happy and fresh for another successful campaign.

We caught up with AJ O'Neill this week to get the latest on All The Glory and what the next steps for her will be over the coming months:

"Obviously All The Glory's last run of the season didn't quite go to plan, but we have had her checked over thoroughly and nothing out of the ordinary has come back from those tests. She scoped clean, she didn't bleed and there were no issues with sound or wind either. All The Glory has been on the go for a reasonably good while to be fair, she was in full training for over 300 days so we've had her out in the field for the last couple of weeks, and we'll be keeping here there for a little while because we think it'll do her well to give her a good break, as she's probably needing it.

She's had a great first season over fences and we're looking forward to seeing what she can do next season!"

We'll be back with further updates in the near future once All The Glory is back in training before the jumps season starts to heat up again, where we're all hoping she can further progress as our star chaser.
