Raceday LIVE Preview
It's been a year of ups and downs for Aspire To Glory so far in 2024 after becoming the club's first ever winner on the flat back in December over today's course and distance. He followed up that success with a victory at Lingfield to kick off the new year, before finishing third in his bid for a famous hat-trick contest back at Kempton. He had one more run after that when he was stepped up to a mile for only the second time in his career, in which he came home in fifth place off a handicap mark of 53.

He was given a 104-day break following that run as Alice wanted to have him fresh for his return for the turf flat season, and he kicked things off with a solid 4th place finish when reappearing at Leicester over seven furlongs on heavy ground. Aspire To Glory followed that up with his best run of his summer campaign when finishing 2nd at Ripon over a mile, but although he had a couple of excuses, he unfortunately struggled to replicate that level of performance in the rest of his following efforts across July, August and September.
Today will mark the first time since February that Aspire To Glory has been ridden by a seven pound claimer, as Anna Gibson takes the reins on him for the first time this evening. Tommie Jakes was the last apprentice to claim a seven pound allowance on our three-year-old, and he won over course and distance onboard Aspire To Glory the first time they were paired up, so if previous trends are anything to go by, then today's booking can only be a positive.

Another positive is that Alice told us that Anna has been riding Aspire To Glory a lot in his recent work at her base in Newmarket, so that will put her in good stead ahead of today's race to be aware of his quirks, as we know he can be a tricky customer to handle at times.
Trainer and Jockey Statistics
Alice Haynes has been in fair form recently, posting up two winners from 13 runners in the last fortnight, including one in the turf at Hamilton at the end of September. At Windsor, she's had two winners from 28 total runners in her career, with a further five horses finishing in the top three. One of those winners came this season, from 12 runners at the course.
Anna Gibson is a promising young apprentice, having taken the reins on a total of 139 horses in her fledgling career so far. She's won on nine different occasions, collecting a total of over £85,000 in prize money for connections in her career. One of those victories came from her 57 rides so far this year, and that came at Goodwood on Miller Spirit for Gary and Josh Moore.
Pre-Race Message from Alice Haynes
"Good luck with Aspire To Glory heading to his favourite Kempton this evening.
He has a new rider as our apprentice Anna Gibson gets on him for the first time, and I think this could be beneficial with him as he’s gone well previously for Tommie Jakes when he was a 7lb claimer. He seems to like sympathetic riders and Anna is a nice rider who can get horses running for her.
They should go a good pace which again in theory is very suitable, and we know that if he’s in the mood he’s more than capable of going close."
Aspire To Glory's Owners for the Day

Chris Dixon, Racing TV Analyst, previews Aspire To Glory's chances this evening, and which rivals are likely to challenge him.
Aspire To Glory
Having failed to settle when returned to racing over a mile at Wolverhampton last time, the drop back to 7f looks a good move for Aspire to Glory as he looks to belatedly build on a more encouraging effort on his penultimate start.
Like last time, Aspire To Glory has been handed a poor draw out wide in stall 10, though his style of racing does mean the draw isn’t always that important to him and I’m not taking it as a big negative. Being given a good pace to aim at is probably a more important factor and there’s a chance that could happen here with La Verite (1), Havana Mojito (4) and My Clementine (11) all horses who have made the running in recent starts.
Overall this isn’t a strong race and Aspire To Glory should be capable of being competitive if showing his best form at a track where he has won in the past, but it’s hard to confident that will be the case.
Rest of the field
In-form rivals are thin on the ground but La Verite did run well last time and starts out for a new stable and Irrelevant was below form last time at Chelmsford but had excuses and is perhaps better judged on his previous third at Lingfield, on which he has a chance, so both those are worth considering. True Blue Gent is dropping in the weights and getting closer so should be on the shortlist while market support for any of the unexposed handicap debutants should be noted.
