Raceday LIVE Preview
Aspire To Glory is enjoying a busy summer this year, with today's race at Yarmouth marking his fifth start since May. In that time he's placed twice, including once over this distance in June where he finished second at Ripon, and last time out where he came home in third over seven furlongs at Chepstow.
Alice Haynes was pleased with that performance, saying that the winner benefitted from having the rail, and reported that our gelding came out of the race with no issues.

His performances this summer, barring the very fast ground he ran on at Leicester, have been very consistent and he's shaped well in each of his runs on the turf, something that we didn't necessarily see during his two-year-old season. His best performances, however, have certainly been on the all-weather, with two victories to his name at Kempton and Lingfield.
Today will mark Aspire To Glory's second race at Yarmouth, after having ran over six furlongs there in the third run of his career there just over a year ago. That was back when our gelding was still a novice, and he was sent off at 66/1 that day, in what was a warm Class 4 contest. Christian Howarth took the reins that day, and he's back onboard Aspire To Glory this afternoon, albeit claiming two pounds less than last year, after riding out his five pound claim earlier in the season.
The going at Yarmouth is currently Good to Firm, with watering planned this morning to maintain those conditions prior to racing.
Raceday message from Alice Haynes
"Aspire To Glory is in really good form, we know what he’s like in that he seems like he’s always going to hold back something for himself, but if they all gave 100% then there wouldn’t be any racing below class 4 level!
Christian has been riding really well recently and had a double not so long back, so his 3lbs could be useful enough as well. He has the cheekpieces on to attempt to keep him as straight as possible, and depending on how Aspire feels on the day we know he can go close."
Aspire To Glory's Owners for the Day
As winners of the Owner for the Day competition, 10 lucky Coral Racing Club members have been given the chance to enjoy an exclusive owners experience for Aspire To Glory's run at Yarmouth this afternoon.
Each winner, along with a guest of their choosing, will receive free entry to Yarmouth Racecourse, including exclusive access to Owners & Trainers areas. They'll have the opportunity to meet Aspire To Glory and the Alice Haynes team, plus get to head into the parade ring before the race begins to be amongst all the other owners, trainers and jockeys. And last but by no means least, each winner will get to take home an equal 10% split of any prize money won by Aspire To Glory.
Today's Class 6 contest is worth £10,000 in total, with the winner set to scoop £5,234 for their lucky owners.
2nd: £2,456 | 3rd: £1,227 | 4th: £614 | 5th: £306
Trainer and Jockey Statistics
Alice Haynes has been in steady form recently, sending out three winners from 31 runners in the last fortnight, with a further six placing in those contests. The Newmarket trainer has had a steady start to the season too, with a strike rate of 10% so far this year, with another 10% of her runners picking up places on the way. Her form at Yarmouth is respectable, with five of her 64 career runners at the Norfolk track winning, one of which came from her 15 runners there this season.
Christian Howarth has been kept busy recently, with 11 rides in the last 10 days. These have included one winner, that came at Lingfield three days ago and two third place finishes. The young apprentice has also ridden two winners at Yarmouth in his career to date, as well as five total winners for Alice Haynes, two of which have come this year.
Timeform | Verdict
OH SO AUDACIOUS has acquitted herself well in all 4 starts this term and makes most appeal. Got No Dollars and Aspire To Glory rate the principal dangers.
Today's Opposition
- Oh So Audacious has three total victories to her name, all of which have come in her last eight runs, and have been over today's distance of a mile. Two of her victories have come on good to firm ground, which is what we're expected to have this afternoon, so conditions certainly suit Harry Eustace's five-year-old. Kaiya Fraser is also in the hot seat this afternoon, claiming five pounds.
- Got No Dollars is a very experienced six-year-old and comes into the race with five career wins from 42 runs, the last of which came on the all-weather over the mile trip at Kempton in January. Last time out, the gelding showed flashes of his old form, finishing a short-head second back at Kempton. Jack Doughty's five pound claim could come into calculations this afternoon.
- Zafaan is another distance winner in today's field, scoring at Doncaster on good ground last May. He won off a rating of 60 that day and has since dropped nine pounds in the handicap, including a four pound drop following his last race, in which he finished a disappointing seventh of nine.
