Raceday LIVE Preview
Phoenix Of Dreams returns to the racecourse today for the first time in around a month and a half following a difficult trip to Chester last time out. After a deluge of rain hit the track in the days leading up to the raceday, the ground became bottomless, and despite travelling ok for the first half of the race, the conditions eventually took their toll. As he turned for home under Jason Hart [jockey], his efforts faded and the pair eventually came home in ninth place.
Despite the result, Phoenix Of Dreams came out of the contest in good order and the idea was to get our gelding back out on turf before the end of the season, but that didn't look likely when he suffered a minor injury at home in a strange incident that saw him 'trip over' whilst being walked through the paddock.
Thankfully, it didn't take long for him to recover, as it was just a small setback, and he was back cantering two weeks ago in preparation for his return. Sean Quinn told us they would be looking to get him back out as soon as they could, but were willing to go back to the all-weather if necessary as he showed a liking to it when he finished second at Southwell on his only start over six furlongs to date.

That run was the third in a row in which Phoenix Of Dreams finished second, all over slightly varying distances too. The first came two months earlier at Beverley, where he finished just over two lengths behind Coppull Hall Lane, who has ran credibly in two listed races since. He then made the long trip to Chepstow, where he yet again ran into a good horse called Miss Information, who has won once since and placed in a valuable handicap at York during the Ebor Festival for the Andrew Balding team.

Phoenix Of Dreams is set to face just two rivals this afternoon, including Krancjar who cost 150,000 guineas as a yearling and was sold to current owners Pompey Ventures earlier this year. He came up against Phoenix Of Dreams at Southwell at the end of August, but finished 15.5 lengths behind our gelding on that day, before disappointing again in a Class 5 Maiden at Chelmsford next timeout. Today will mark the first time that Krancjar has raced on the turf, and he will need to show a big level of improvement to overturn the form versus Phoenix Of Dreams. The other runner in the race is Sheriff's Call, who has had two runs to date. Both of these runs were last summer on the turf and were relatively low key, and having been off for over 500 days, he may need the run.
Jason Hart heads to Redcar this afternoon to ride again for the Coral Racing Club and he has ridden our three-year-old in five of his six runs to date, including two of his three second place finishes. Their partnership has been solid this season, and Jason certainly knows how to handle Phoenix Of Dreams having ridden him so well in the past.
If there's one Coral Racing Club horse who deserves to get his head in front, it's definitely Phoenix Of Dreams, so hopefully he can deliver today and get us back in the winners enclosure with our 101st runner.

Trainer and Jockey Statistics
John & Sean Quinn haven't recorded a win in the last fortnight, but have picked up four top 3 finishes, and they've had a relatively quiet season by their standards, winning 30 races from 219 runners. Since Sean joined the training license in Yorkshire, the duo have sent 20 runners to Redcar, winning once and placing a further five times.
Jason Hart has ridden two winners in 41 rides in the last fortnight, with a further eight finishes in the top three. In his 424 rides at Redcar. Jason has picked up 34 winners (13%) and three of those have come this season from 37 rides at the course. Jason is a jockey that the Quinns use regularly, having picked up 23 wins for the pair from 201 rides since the father and son combined. He was also utilised when John was the sole name on the license, riding a staggering 1700 times for the trainer and picking up 214 wins in the process.
Chris Dixon, Racing TV Analyst, shares an exclusive preview of this afternoon's 12:55 at Redcar
Phoenix Of Dreams didn’t show his form when down the field at Chester last time and though his previous form suggested deep ground wouldn’t be an issue there perhaps it did catch him out in a more competitive scenario than the previous time he’d tried it. Previously consistent during a run on solid second-place finishes, I fully expect Phoenix Of Dreams to be back on song following a 45 day break and take advantage of a gilt edged opportunity to break his maiden.
His two opponents are Kranjcar who a fairly expensive yearling at 150,000 Guineas but hasn’t shown much at all when well beaten in a couple of AW starts far and Sheriff’s Call who did show a bit when last seen but has since been off for 514 days and looks likely to be of more interest in low-level handicaps once allowed a mark. Phoenix Of Dreams is a clear form pick and is fully expected to justify short-priced favouritism.
