Raceday LIVE Preview
It was just over a week ago today that West End Boy sent the club into jubilation as he returned with a bang on his seasonal reappearance, winning by 10 lengths at Wincanton on his handicap debut for trainer Joe Tizzard.

How impressive was that? 🤩
West End Boy wins off a mark of 99 for @TizzardRacing. Congratulations to our owners for the day 🏇
Joe had reported in the weeks building up to West End Boy's run that he had summered well and that he was hopeful of an "exciting season" with him.
Following the victory, Joe said in his post-race update that "...to produce what he did on his opening start of the season was just fantastic." and to make things better, he came out of the race in great condition, so much so it took Joe very little time to look at the racing calendar again to see if there were any options for him to run again soon where he could avoid a penalty.
And that's how we've ended up at Plumpton today!
Promising conditional jockey and Joe's nephew, Freddie Gingell, takes the ride again, but this time is able to claim a full 7lbs with it not being a conditional jockeys' contest, which is a big plus.

Joe Tizzard has a good strike rate at Plumpton too, training five winners from just 25 runners so far in his short career after taking over from his Dad last year.

There are a couple of interesting contenders in today's race, however, who shouldn't be underestimated at all.
- Wester Soldier, trained by Milton Harris, is a former German group level flat horse who is also looking to make it two wins on the trot having won by seven lengths over course and distance two weeks ago today. He is also the Racing Post's NAP of the day.
- Spartan Army was highly tried last season, including a 5th place effort in the Grade 2 Coral Adonis Juvenile Hurdle at Kempton, after making the move from Joseph O'Brien to Alan King's yard. It'll be interesting to see how he fairs on his hurdles reappearance after a pipe opener at Bath just over two weeks ago.
At The Races Verdict
WEST END BOY took a big step forward when winning easily on his handicap debut at Wincanton eight days ago and the son of Westerner is extremely hard to oppose as he does not have to carry a penalty for that conditional jockeys' handicap success. Western Soldier also arrives here on the back of an impressive victory and he should not be discounted, while Parc d'Amour is another to note.
