Treatment continues for Conservative as he recovers from sore heel – latest update from Scott Dixon
Conservative’s fetlock remained swollen for a few days after he knocked himself, so we put him on antibiotics to help reduce the swelling. It was nothing alarming, but it’s always better to get on top of these things as quickly as possible. We also applied some ice to the leg to ease the swelling.
Horses do knock themselves all the time, so we might look to wrap his legs in bandages to protect them when he’s in his box. It’s a bit frustrating as he was ready to run again, but he will soon be back in full work, and I might look to step him up in trip for his next run as I think he’s got the stamina for further than a mile.
I’d be keen to run him at Newcastle as I think the long straight there will suit his style of running.
