Greek Symphony soars home late to claim the Coral Racing Club's 20th victory
After two impressive runs on her first two starts in recent weeks, Greek Symphony made the trip to Lingfield for her handicap debut on Monday night, in a small field of five runners. As well as making her handicap debut it was also her first start on the all-weather, with the decision being made to switch her away from turf due to the slightly firmer than ideal ground.
Drawn in stall four, Greek Symphony proceeded to duck to the right, into her only rival to the outside, immediately after they broke from the gates. She dropped to the rear of the field following this, but was always within touching distance of the leaders, and was by no means detached from the other runners in the race. Our two-year-old managed to find herself stuck on the outside of her four rivals when they arrived at the bend, running an extra bit of distance in the process, but caught a full head of steam as they entered the final furlong of the race. As the front runners began to edge closer to the line, Greek Symphony was making up ground on long time leader, Lord Ragnar, with every stride, and just managed to get her neck out as they crossed the line, scoring in nail biting fashion.
