Joe Tizzard: I am expecting a big run here and think he is the one to beat

22 Apr 2023
Your Coral Racing Club trainer, Joe Tizzard, provides an exclusive preview on his three runners at Ayr on Coral Scottish Grand National day.

13:15 Ayr – Elixir De Nutz

Elixir De Nutz
ran a lovely race to be second in the Game Spirit at Newbury, but a big field at Cheltenham last time just didn’t suit him, albeit he still travelled nicely for a long way.

He only faces nine rivals here, so Brendan [Powell] can jump him out in front and set his own pace, and on good ground that we know he likes, I can see him running a big race.

13:50 Ayr – Oscar Elite

We had to decide between this novice race and the Coral Scottish Grand National for this fellow, and having discussed it with the owners we've kept him in novice company, as he is only a novice for another week.

Cheltenham just didn't happen for him, he missed the break and had to make up the ground, although in fairness he did come there travelling two out and had every chance.

I am expecting a big run here and think he is the one to beat.

16:45 Ayr – Guernesey

We've only had this horse for a couple of runs, and I was toying with the idea of stepping him up in trip, but we've kept him to 2 1/2 miles and will ride him positively here, as I think that will suit him, and if so he would have an each way chance.
