Joe Tizzard: Two chances to strike gold at Sandown to pass £1 million in prize money
We have a great team here, but it’s me who makes the decisions, and therefore me who has to take responsibility, whether things go well or not. Have I enjoyed it? Mostly, yes, and I’ve also learned plenty, which will help going forward.
I’ll keep about 20 in for summer jumping, so most of the 100 horses or so will get a good break, and it’s important for humans and horses to get a good break.
Jumping is our game, and the winter months are what really matter, so we all need to take some time out and come back refreshed for the new season.
I’ve got lots of nice young horses to look forward to, we are just lacking that star performer, but we’ll keep looking, I’ve got some wonderfully supportive owners, and we’ll never stop trying for them
14:50 Sandown – Eldorado Allen
On paper, this is one of the easiest races Eldorado Allen has run in all season in terms of the weight conditions of the race.
He only ran two weeks ago at Aintree, but he has come out of that really well, and this is a race we've had in mind for a while for him.
Hewick sets a high standard, but he may have had a hard race in the Gold Cup, while our fellow has run well over hurdles here before, so he can hopefully translate that to fences. He's in good form and I would be hopeful of a big race.
16:35 Sandown – Bourbali
Bourbali is such a lovely consistent horse, he never runs a bad race but as a result he doesn't get any respite from the handicapper.
He's got some decent form to his name, and has won and run well at Sandown before, and with only eight rivals it would be no surprise to see him run another strong race.
