WATCH: "It's been on our bucket list for years" | Raceday Highlights from Rockstar Icon's trip to Glorious Goodwood
It was another delightful day down at the Sussex track, with temperatures soaring above 25 degrees, which meant that thousands of racegoers, including lots of Coral Racing Club members came through the gates, ready to enjoy an exciting day of action.
But the focus, at least for all of us and our members, was solely on the final race on the card as the club's three-year-old gelding, Rockstar Icon, was set to lineup alongside 13 rivals in a competitive Class 3 handicap over a mile. Coral Racing Ambassador, Jim Crowley, was booked to ride for the first time, and he was equipped with the Jockey Cam to give us a fly on the wall experience onboard Rockstar Icon.
Tune in to catch all of the action in our latest Raceday Highlights video, including the thoughts of some of our members on their experience of the day.
What next for Rockstar Icon?
Oliver Cole has been pleased with how Rockstar Icon has come out of his race at Goodwood, so much so that he's already entered him in two races on the all-weather next week at Lingfield (Tuesday 13th) and Kempton (Wednesday 14th).
The plan is to assess the entries over the weekend, then the team at Whatcombe Racing will decide which race to opt for. Subsequent of his run last week, Rockstar Icon has been dropped two pounds in the handicap ratings, leaving him on a mark of 78, which Oliver believes is a "very workable".
Rockstar Icon got off the mark with a convincing victory at Lingfield on the all-weather on New Year's Eve last year, so whether it's Lingfield or Kempton, there won't be any concerns regarding the conditions.
If he's declared for either contest, as usual we'll have a declaration video including the latest updates and thoughts ahead of the race, so be sure to keep an eye out for that.
