Weekend Runners: CRC trainers set for a busy couple of days on the all-weather
Dixon yard in for a busy weekend on the all-weather
With the cold snap forcing most turf racing to be abandoned this weekend, a lot of eyes will be on the all-weather meetings. Scott Dixon has plenty of runners at Southwell and Wolverhampton today, while on Sunday, he will be at Newcastle with three horses.
Theotherside gets things underway today in the 13:25 Southwell under Graham Lee, but Dark Shot may be one of Scott's best chances of the day at Wolverhampton in the 17:00. He ran a respectable fifth place earlier this month at Southwell. This horse won in a higher grade than this back in October. Cheekpieces are being applied for this assignment, which might just help him concentrate on the task at hand. That's not his only option in the race though, as Poet also lines up under Connor Beasley who continues to fall down the handicap since moving from the Roger Varian yard last year.
Tizzard has a rare runner on the all-weather at Lingfield on day two of the Winter Million Festival
Dual-purpose gelding Tamaris runs in the opener on the card at 11:55. The horse has won on the AW before, and he should be fit for this assignment following a spin over hurdles at Fontwell last month.
All eyes on Newcastle on Sunday for Rebecca
With Haydock being abandoned today due to the weather, it's on to Sunday for the dual-purpose trainer who has two runners on the AW at Newcastle. Unbridled Power features in the 13:15, while at 13:45, Russian Virtue is bidding for his third straight win following two successes over hurdles.
Good luck to all our trainers, and their owners, with their runners this weekend.
