Greek Symphony impresses once again with second place finish at Newbury | Raceday Highlights
Our new two-year-old filly hadn't experienced firm ground before, so there was some concern about how she might travel on a quick surface prior to the race, especially given that her only appearance to date was on far softer ground at Goodwood a few weeks ago. She didn't seem to mind however, and began the race with the same aplomb that we saw on her debut, making her way to a prominent position from a favourable draw in stall seven.
Although she looked a shade green at the start of the race once more, she eventually settled nicely towards the front of the field, keeping tabs on the front running Yahaira. As the race progressed, it looked as though our filly was travelling perfectly into the race and that she would eventually get her head past the leader. However, as jockey Neil Callan noted after the race, she changed her legs a couple of times in the final stretch of the race, likely due to the firm ground of which she had no prior experience of, which in turn threw her off of her rhythm.

Greek Smyphony's Owners for the Day with Neil Callan and Oliver Cole before her race at NewburyWe caught up with Oliver Cole to see how Greek Symphony was getting on after the race and he said the following:
"Greek Symphony ran another really nice race at Newbury, only just losing out by a neck. The winner, Yahaira, was having her fourth start, and that experience just told. Our filly was also running on very different ground to the soft ground she ran on at Goodwood on her debut, and we were concerned she wouldn't act on such quick ground. Neil Callan did say that was as fast as she'd want it, so we'll hope for some rain before her next run.
She came out of the race in good order, and we're looking at going back to Newbury on 9th July, for another fillies' race over six furlongs. Having finished third and second on her first two starts, she's already shown us plenty to be encouraged by, and I hope she can go one better next time."
It shouldn't be too long before we see Greek Symphony out on track again, so keep an eye on the Coral Racing Club to find out when that will be, and how you could be in attendance as one of her Owners for the Day!
