As Lady Mendoza sets her sights on her fifth run for the Coral Racing Club later this week, trainer Rebecca Menzies sent her and some others from the stable to enjoy a day out at Redcar beach.

We took Lady Mendoza down to Redcar beach for an away day last week, which she absolutely loved. She had a good splash in the sea, and as you've hopefully seen from some of the photos, she was looking really well in herself. We are going to take her to Chris Grant’s yard for another away day early this week, just to give her a change of scenery more than anything else. 

The mares race at Aintree on Friday night is still very much our target for her, but we’ve also given her an entry in the mares race at Uttoxeter the following day. It’s more as a backup than anything else, but if Aintree looked really competitive and the race at Uttoxeter looked a very winnable opportunity, there’s a small chance we could switch her. 

We’ll see how things pan out over the next few days, but we are still very much working towards Aintree. 

She’s been in great form at home, and I know Brian Hughes is really looking forward to riding her again, so with a bit of luck we could be celebrating a winner this weekend!
