Rebecca Menzies: Lady Mendoza seems in great form
We’ve turned her out in the paddock, and she’s been extremely fresh, having a good buck and a kick, so she’s certainly back to herself, which is great to see. We’ve had a few horses who have had similar issues, but they’ve all recovered fairly quickly, it’s just a very common issue when the temperature suddenly drops.
She’s just been doing some trotting so far, so for the rest of this week we’ll get her cantering again and back into full work. As I’ve said before, a few sharp bits of work is all she needs to get her right back on track, so we’ll look at gradually stepping her work up over the next week or so.
Hopefully we are past the worst of the weather, and we are forecast a dry couple of weeks, so if that materialises then we can look at getting another run into her in February. We’ll have a look at the programme and see if there are any suitable races for her, but there’s certainly no rush.
Thankfully the team are continuing in good form. We had a winner at Newcastle the other day, and another horse at Wolverhampton who ran a cracker to hit the frame, so hopefully that continues, and the winners keep on coming.
