Lady Mendoza entered at Perth, but Aintree is Plan A – latest update from Rebecca Menzies

Lady Mendoza
Lady Mendoza is in great nick at home. Like a lot of trainers, the high levels of pollen have been causing a few problems for a few of mine, but fortunately she’s not one of them.

We’ve got a few options for her in terms of her next race, but my preferred option would be Aintree on Friday 16th June.

The Aintree race is a three mile handicap hurdle for mares only, and I really think the flat, galloping track at Aintree would suit her. Brian Hughes has said he’s keen to ride her again too, which is a huge positive to have the champion jockey on board. He got off her last time and said he’d love to ride her over three miles, so it makes sense to take his advice.

There is also a race at Perth on Sunday, 11th, and at Southwell on Monday 12th, but these are back-up targets really in case they looked like being small fields, and not particularly competitive, but Aintree would be Plan A at this stage.
