Rebecca Menzies | Lady Mendoza bouncing at home, Doncaster entry, plus latest Owner for the Day competition
She jumped the first couple of hurdles a bit big, but she got slicker as the race went on, and it was pleasing to see her travel with that bit of zest that we know she has.
She’s come out of the race absolutely bouncing, so I don’t think we’ll hang around with her to be honest. I do get the feeling she’s at her best when fresh, but she’s absolutely flying at home, so I’d rather get her out sooner rather than later.
There’s a nice handicap hurdle for mares over three miles at Doncaster on Saturday 16th December, so providing the ground isn’t bottomless, then I think that’s where we’ll target her.

The plan is still to go chasing with her as soon as we can, but it’s been that wet up here recently, we just haven’t had the opportunity to properly school her over fences. I think she proved at Musselburgh last week that she’s more than capable of winning a race over hurdles, so it would be nice to do that before we embark on her chasing career.
I’ll keep everybody updated with her progress, but we’ll very much target her at that Doncaster race on the 16th, and hopefully we get a bit of dry weather between now and then!
