We decided to geld Rockstar Icon earlier this week as he was just starting to become a little too coltish.

What I mean by that is, he was unsettled when doing his work. It’s a very common procedure and one which does not put him out of action for long. In fact, we expect him to canter again at the end of this week.

Now he has been gelded, his character will change. He should settle down, and that means he can concentrate on his job on the track. It will also ensure he is a little lighter. He is a big horse, so that is not a bad thing either.

The plan is still to run Rockstar Icon over the winter on the all-weather. He is not a horse we are planning to put away from next spring. We think he can win races on the all-weather and he has enough experience as a two-year-old to make it count this year.
