Oliver Cole provides an early 2024 update on Rockstar Icon just over a month on from his win at Lingfield on New Year's Eve.

The Cole team have been very patient with the club's three-year-old gelding as they have always held him in high regard and haven't felt any need to rush him.

And it's fair to say that the patience has been duly rewarded because following Rockstar Icon's satisfactory debut at Windsor in May where he finished 7th, he's since finished 2nd in a Class 2 novice contest at Haydock, and most recently got off the mark at the third attempt with a dominating victory at Lingfield.

As a result of that third run, he's been given an opening handicap mark of 80. The Cole team did consider looking at the French racing calendar to see if there might be any opportunities there over the next couple of months, but they've opted to keep him at home and prepare him for the upcoming flat season here in the UK.

Since his win on New Year's Eve, Rockstar Icon has put on almost 30kg in weight as he continues to grow and fill out his frame, which Oliver Cole is very happy to see.
