West End Boy is in really good nick, basically he’s ready to run, but we just need some rain to take the sting out of the ground.

After a dry, warm spell the going at plenty of tracks just needs to ease a bit and that will happen. We’re already seeing plenty of rain around the country now. We’ve been so patient with him this far, we just need to wait a little bit longer, good to soft ground would be perfect, so it will come soon enough.

I’m really pleased with how he’s developed over the summer, he’s grown a bit and just strengthened up. Since we’ve upped his work in recent weeks, he’s done everything really nicely. His schooling has also gone really well, Brendan [Powell] is as happy with him as I am.

His final run last season was really encouraging, and following that we got his official mark, of 99. I really do think that’s a mark that gives him every chance of getting a win on the board now he’ll be running in handicaps, so we should be in for an exciting season.
